Shaftesbury Capital is one of the largest landowners in the wider Covent Garden area including Seven Dials and is committed to building an exemplar in estate stewardship backed with substantial annual investment.
Covent Garden is a world-class global destination in the heart of the West End, including the iconic Piazza, Market Building and surrounding streets, together with Seven Dials. The portfolio is home to over 200 retail stores including global flagships, British and independent brands as well as over 200 restaurants, bars and cafes. Covent Garden already has a strong community spirit and is a truly mixed used district with residents, businesses, performers, religious and cultural institutions co-existing in a small geographical area and shared with in excess of 40 million visitors annually.
As part of our ongoing efforts to make our areas thriving and harmonious places to live, work and visit we have worked with key stakeholders to create Community Charters. These are voluntary codes of conduct for all community members, including both our customers and neighbours. Although part of the same wider neighbourhood Seven Dials has several differences in how it functions such being part of Camden not Westminster. As such there are separate Community Charters for Seven Dials and the rest of Covent Garden.
The purpose of these Charters is to set a voluntary framework code of conduct for all occupiers in the community to co-exist in a neighbourly manner. The aim is for everyone to take pride in helping to deliver a vibrant, environmentally friendly, safer, healthier and where possible, quieter neighbourhood, whilst balancing the need for residents amenity, with the viability and requirements of businesses and expectations of visitors to the area.
We encourage all members of the Covent Garden and Seven Dials community to read the Charters and sign up to agree to the principles and ways of working they contain.
The Charters will be periodically reviewed to consider necessary amendments.
