Our Approach to Community

We adopt a proactive approach to the management of the areas in which we operate.

The safety, sustainability and health of our communities, workers and visitors are paramount. There are over 70 CCTV cameras across the area which have been in operation for a number of years, improving security and providing additional information for the police to ensure the safety of all workers, residents, and visitors.

As part of our approach to enhancing the sustainability of the areas which we manage, we are driving a number of successful initiatives, including improving recycling facilities, as well as working alongside Westminster City Council to help keep the area clean and healthy.

We have previously invested significantly in the Covent Garden and Seven Dials districts, bringing a number of vacant sites back into active use through programmes of sensitive refurbishment, restoration and the conservation of the unique London architecture and heritage buildings. This approach has resulted in a vibrant and thriving neighbourhood for the benefit of residents, visitors and workers alike.

Complementing this approach, we work closely with both Westminster and Camden Councils to invest significantly in the public realm. Projects have included improvements across the area and administering the timed closures on King Street, Henrietta Street and Maiden Lane to make them more pedestrian-friendly.

Covent Garden and Seven Dials is of huge importance and our team of Managing Agents work in conjunction with the Council and Veolia to clean, repair and decorate the streets and street furniture, reporting any issues in the public realm so that these are dealt with quickly and efficiently. To complement this, our stewards undertake c200,000 hours of on-street activities every year, working for the benefit of the Covent Garden and Seven Dials community.

Furthermore, we are committed to investing for the long term. We take a responsible and forward-looking approach, operating in an environmentally sustainable manner which seeks to minimise the impact of our operations on the environment.

We have been part of the West End for over 35 years and as long-term stewards have formed many long-standing relationships with our neighbours and the local community.

We work with a range of partners including not-for-profit organisations, charities, educational establishments, and other local community groups across Westminster and Camden. By working with local organisations, we can build long-term relationships that maximise the value generated for the local community from our own resources and influence.

We contribute to a range of causes with a particular emphasis on creating opportunities for local young people, homelessness, and food hardship. Aside from cash donations, we contribute space in the form of in-kind and reduced rent and our employees’ time through volunteering activities with local organisations.
